Fifty Five comes from vineyards planted in 1955 that rest gently on a sea of pebbles, typical of river soils. Fifty Five has the highest amount of tension of all the Chacra wines. The blue fruit is impressive with an intense, violet and floral character, with earthy notes. Full-bodied, juicy on the palate, yet the tannins spread across the palate, releasing pure, seductive fruit and bright, taut acidity.
"The Cincuenta y Cinco 2014 feels very complete even at this early stage with good concentration, maturity and balance. It combines the elegance of 2013 with the exuberance of 2011. From 2011 on, the bet is on a light toasting of the barrels and also they are beginning to use larger volume formats, 600 litres. The oak feels perfectly integrated into the wine. In context it is more powerful, and has a little more concentration and maturity, but it is still a very balanced and fresh wine. Different to 2013, but with the same level of high quality. 19,000 bottles produced." Luis Gutierrez - The Wine Advocate - Robert Parker
"Wonderful purity for this wine with dried strawberries and iodine, plus hints of rose petals and cherry. Full and ultra silky. Bright acidity too. Whole berry fermentation with pinot noir that is grown biodynamically. Wonderful excitement and potential. Best in 2018." James Suckling
