Cabernet Franc appears as a relatively recent variety in Argentina. Originally from the humid climate of Bordeaux (France), it has adapted exceptionally to the high altitude vineyards (over 900 meters above sea level) and the dry climate of the Mendoza province, in western Argentina. It began to be planted in the country in the 90's to strengthen blend wines, without imagining that it would become a varietal in itself. Although the area planted with Cabernet Franc is minimal in relation to other red varieties, the variety stands out widely for its quality.
