This desert and rocky corner of Tupungato offers vineyards that climb up to 1,600 meters above sea level. Here, at the highest altitude for Mendoza's cultivation, the vines enjoy a cooler climate than in other areas of the province. Thanks to this, Gualtallary is synonymous with fresh and tense wines. Not only Malbec, but also Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
The key factor, namely, is the profile of its soils: alluvial, poor, stony and with a significant presence of calcium carbonate and sand. Combo of attributes that allows them to be defined as calcareous and relates them to those of Burgundy and Champagne.
