"The Chenin Old Vines de Patagonia 2020 comes from vineyards in Río Negro (Patagonia) and was produced with free-vine grapes planted in silty soils on the banks of the Río Negro. It was made in the old style, using amphorae. The nose is reticent and austere and the palate is sharp and low in alcohol (12.5%), but the wine has inner power and depth, it is textured and savory and finishes with savory flavors and vibrant citrus acidity and a hint of saline. It shows the potential of the vineyards old in Patagonia. Quite impressive." Luis Gutierrez - The Wine Advocate - Robert Parker
"In search of old vineyards, Riccitelli came to Beltrán, in Río Negro, and discovered this old chenin vineyard from 1960, a vineyard with very low production that has given an intense white, very strong. Half of the wine is fermented with their skins, and that's part of the reason for this intense body, for this firm texture, almost red wine structure, and the herbal aromas everywhere, the ripe white fruits and the acidity in the midst of all this feasting. white to take it to the cellar and forget about it for a decade." Patricio Tapia - Uncorked Guide
Chenin from old rebellious vineyards standing free on silty soils on the banks of the Rio Negro, an area with great potential, which still resists in Patagonia. Rediscovering this past is also part of our future.
After countless harvests made around the world, Matías Riccitelli in 2015 began a new project: to revalue old vineyards in the Argentine Patagonia. There is a unique story of forgotten varieties, old vines that still stand the test of time, treasures that this project aims to rediscover. This is how he created the Old Vines line, with grapes from vineyards located in the Alto Valle de Río Negro.
This wine has not been filtered to keep its organoleptic characteristics intact. Contains sediment.
