Score: 96 Tim Atkin - 94 James Suckling
Best Malbec from Argentina, by Tim Atkin, in his 2021 annual report.
Since its inception, Trapiche has ventured into the search for terroirs with extraordinary potential to produce unique wines, based on a philosophy inspired by the richness of diversity. Terroir Series is the result of this search. A series of specimens that reflect the best expression of the terroir in the Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, chosen each year among all the producers by Sergio Casé, Chief Winemaker of Trapiche.
"This brilliant Terroir Series comes from a flood-irrigated vineyard planted in 1945 in El Peral. Aged in a combination of small barrels and foudres, it is a subtle and elegant Uco Valley. Malbec, displaying aromas of violet and fennel, fine tannins, plum and blueberry fruit and attractive freshness for a wine with 15% alcohol. To drink between 2023 and 2030." Tim Atkins
Intense violet red color with aromas of forest fruits such as blackberries and blueberries. On the palate it is fresh and round at the beginning with sweet and tense tannins that give it juiciness and breadth and elegance on the palate.
