Zaha means "Heart" in the Huarpe de Mendoza indigenous language. This wine represents the heart of the privileged terroir found at a high altitude in Mendoza. The Toko vineyard, which means "Stone" in Huarpe, is located at a high altitude, and is distinguished by being located in a temperate climate zone with a unique soil that is the "Heart" of Zaha.
The soils of the Toko vineyard have a stony profile with chalky spots. These various soils represent patches of sand, stone and silt scattered throughout the vineyard. At harvest time, each soil imparts varied profiles of aromas, flavors and textures to Malbec. Floral notes in the sandy parts, stony minerality in the rocky parts, and black fruit in the silty parts. The combination of these profiles develops a particular complexity in the final cut of this wine.
