Zuccardi Fincas seeks to highlight the maximum concept of terroir, showing the characteristics of the Uco Valley vineyards, which makes them unique and unrepeatable. Altamira area. It expresses a great fruit character with notes of red and black fruits: strawberries, cherries and plums that are complemented by fresh herbal and mineral notes. A wine with great structure and concentration.
More than 20 years ago, a family of vintners from La Consulta planted this Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard, which came into our hands in 2008. There was an indelible stamp on it, which made it similar to the oldest vineyards in the area.
Its traditional furrow irrigation system, its posts made of carob wood and its rows of quince trees surrounding the vineyard, are its hallmarks, and at the same time a tribute to the rich wine-growing legacy of the region.
When we started to work it, we took on the task of recovering the life of its soils and the vigor of its vines, with love and care, seeking that the vineyard can express the full potential of the place where it grew.
Finca Los Membrillos is located on the eastern edge of Paraje Altamira, at 1,065 meters above sea level, and shares the particular characteristics of the soils in this area; diverse, stony and calcareous. Sebastián Zuccardi, Viticulturist
"The 2014 and 2015 vintages were not produced, as they were difficult years for the grape, so I tried Finca Los Membrillos 2016, a pure Cabernet Sauvignon from a single vineyard that was last bottled in 2013. It comes from a vineyard planted with a solid selection of the grapes they bought. In 2016, they made a selection from two types of soils (in this case, the shallower soils due to the cooler, wetter year), then fermented in concrete and matured in oak barrels. These Cabernet grapes were picked between harvests of Malbec grapes, which is not like it was done in the past, when Cabernet grapes were saved for last, and if you left them too late they dried out and got very tannic. it transcends the varietal, yes there are some spicy and peppery notes and it is balsamic, but it is mostly stony/chalky It has fine grained calcareous tannins, typical of the variety and the Altamira soils It is serious, balanced and has a good potential d e aging in one of the best (if not the best) vintage. 3,400 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2017." Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Robert Parker.
